I hired Starbright to create a life story video featuring my 99 year old grandpa and had the best experience! I just wish I would have found their services sooner before my grandpa started losing his memory. Even with my grandpa's memory loss, Starbright was able to use creative ways to still work with him and capture something truly special. Colleen and her husband were beyond patient with my grandpa and so nice to him and my family. My family also loved working with them. Watching what Starbright put together for my family brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it with just how amazing it is and how thankful I am to have that memory of my grandpa to cherish for years to come. “Working with Colleen, Michael, and Starbright was one of the most meaningful gifts our family has ever given—or received.
My siblings and I wanted to give our parents something that would last forever: a way to preserve their stories, their memories, and the essence of who they are for future generations. With decades of life lived and so many stories to tell, we hoped for something special… and Colleen and Michael exceeded every expectation.
From the very beginning, they were calm, patient, thoughtful listeners, and incredible storytellers. They took the time to truly get to know my parents—what shaped them, what they valued, how they loved. Their care and intentionality showed in everything they did.
They met with us first to understand what we wanted to capture. Then they interviewed my parents with such grace, warmth, and respect. My parents are 82—my dad is a talker, my mom is quieter—and somehow Colleen brought out the best in both of them. It was beautiful to watch.
The process was special not just for my parents, but for all of us—their children and grandchildren. From the interviews to filming our parents, to ultimately filming our entire family together (14 of us, ages 5 to 82!), Colleen and Michael found a way to weave all of it into a story that felt authentic, heartfelt, and true to who my parents are.

We found Starbright Stories not long after my 40yr old husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Although he was semi hesitant to participate at first, it has proven to be a priceless gift we could provide our young children. Being only 6 & 7 at the time of his death, our girls not only lack memories of their father but also a solid grasp on the type of man he was. This video provides some form of connection they wouldn’t otherwise have, a way to hear his voice and his laugh, see his mannerisms and watch beautifully shot footage of him interacting with them. Although there is nothing lucky about cancer, we were allowed something many aren’t… time, and foresight to find a company like Starbright Stories.
Colleen and Michael are truly gifted storytellers. With the combination of their talents which include photography, videography, direction, the ability to connect with others and an artistic eye they are able to create a keepsake that can be enjoyed for generations.
By providing a list of ideas and talking points ahead of time, my husband was able to prepare his answers and touch on the topics important to him. When the time came to interview him, Colleen made him feel incredibly at ease, which allowed a true “man’s man” to really open up and be vulnerable. Not only did we walk away with our video, we were also provided 2hrs of raw audio from the interview.
